Torarenbo Japanese Restaurant

Had the pleasure to join in an early birthday bash of my friend bluestarbaby and it was at Torarenbo Japanese Restaurant ^^/

Husband and I had not ate there before, but we saw online many good reviews and praises as well as our friend’s recommendation, so was curious to see what it’s like :D

We actually passed by this place before time to time, the location is a little strange perhaps, but the blue sign board is quite eye catching ^^ Also it’s walking distance from Brighouse skytrain station :)

A set meal for 4 was ordered, along with other assorted sushi and cooked food. This generous plate of seafood salad came with salad dressing on the side, and it serves more than enough for 4! :) There was about 10-11 people, and everyone got to try some ^^

Dishes came quite quickly after we placed our order, the tempura stayed hot for a while despite it being one of the dishes everyone ate a bit later than the sushi rolls. I was really surprised when I bit into a piece of the vegetable tempura and it’s still quite warm XD

Chicken Kaarage did not disappoint either, was juicy inside, warm and crispy outside… as I write this I feel like I am drooling LOL

Rainbow roll

Forgot the name of this one, but the mango bits on top were sweet and refreshing, and the tuna in the roll was great – fresh! Went to Torarenbo again and realise this is the Fantastic roll! We LOLed when this roll was ordered, it is the “Fantastic roll”, it was delicious!

I think this is their house roll, yes it’s huge!  The top piece is smoked salmon, and you can taste all the different combination of the flavors, smokey-ness of the smoked salmon, and burst of avocado and the other fish combination — if you can manage to fit one piece into your mouth! XD

Okay I think this sushi plate was included in the 4 people set… by now we’re starting to get full XP

I did not try the Hamachi sushi, but it looks great doesn’t it?! o_o I had a piece of the chopped scallop sushi, it was a bit different from what I am used to, I guess they use a different type of mayonnaise  ^^

I give this place a big thumbs up for sure, my stomach is very very sensitive to raw fish – but I was fine after eating quite a bit more than my usual amount of raw fish, so I would say fish is rather fresh there ^o^!  I hope it’ll retain it’s good practices and good food!  Will definitely want to go back again :) *hint hint husband* lol

Thanks again bluestarbaby for the great company and food, and we had a really fun time after that at a bubble tea place ^o^ I even played a card game called “Bluff” :P despite my initial reluctance — I’m glad I did XD
