Got a teeshirt for husband for his birthday (late present since his birthday already passed :P), too bad it did not arrive before Anime Evolution on the weekend ^^; Right now it’s waiting to be washed lol

I got a Miraifox teeshirt in white too (Zazzle was having a discount period). ^^; Even tho it did not work out with using Zazzle for the long run…

Those who ordered and kept their dark teeshirts from zazzle that time (despite the disappointment in the printing quality on dark shirts) are probably gonna be the only people who have that teeshirt until a better printer is sourced out ^^;/

On a slightly related note, WorkingMirai is now available for iPhone/iPod touch/iPad!

Had permission for Danny to reveal some past work I did for him… :P (realise I pulled that entry and forgot to post this back) Some of you might recognize Working with Mirai… ^^; had the pleasure to make this which turned into something real with the help of Danny and Dr. Ken!

Progress:- Sketched in pencils, scanned into the computer, drawing and tweaking in Flash, colouring, then more tweaking…

Viola!

Also did the simple animation, the still image of this one went thru a lot of tweaking to make Mirai’s side view more moesome :)

Mirai curry

One other thing I really enjoy drawing/painting a lot is food, so when I got a shout from Danny to paint the curry (and Mirai’s arm into place) for Mirai-chan’s curry I of course jumped at the chance to do so!

Are you lucky enough to get a chance to taste Mirai-chan’s curry? It seems that other than bringing this curry to Tokyo CGM night, Danny’s negotiating with Indotei to bring Mirai-chan’s curry to AFA in Singapore! I am so jealous :P!!!

One thing about painting delicious food is that the reference picture often make me feel very hungry ^^;;;;; I had to have an early lunch after I completed the first draft lol! Hope you guys enjoy the image as much as I enjoyed painting it :)

Who is Mirai Suenaga?

The sketch I drew had to be adjusted in photoshop to make lines darker and remove dust marks etc. As I colour I had to also adjust the nose and eyes and some shading done with pencil.

She’s sketched in pencil, adjusted in photoshop and mostly coloured in Sai. (What is Sai?) Hope you like the rendition! :)

Tokyo Trip

Yes we did ^^;

It wasn’t exactly a planned trip, and it was rather short, packed and super busy, but I must say it was fun! I didn’t think we would be going really, but due to something unexpected we just ended up going ^^; (no we didn’t win the lottery ^^;)

To put a long story short, my team ”Permanent Immigrant and Pending”‘s entry Glacier Lily, got into the finals for the Blythe beauty contest(voting has ended thank you all who had voted for us!) and there was a private opening party to attend, and what better excuse to go? During the mid-week got a invite from Danny about an Appliya party, so we attended with a friend and Mirai chan as well ^^;

Due to the amount of photos taken I will seperate food and maybe loot into different entries :) Since it is the rainy season in Japan some days it was rather too wet to take any decent photos so we still felt like we did not take enough photos ^^;/

One of the highlights of the trip was that we finally got to meet Danny Choo, his lovely waifu and 5 gorgeous daughters ^^; I brought along Mirai’s head as I acquired a Dollfie Dream Dynamite body, so I can just put Mirai’s head on the extra body to save myself some extra luggage space ^^;/

Very happy to be able to visit Danny’s office and see all the neat stuff in person :D

Danny tried to convince my husband that the Vader suit was for him ^^;

A little background: My husband came across Danny’s blog/website a few years ago, and recommended me to read it, I got hooked, so the rest is history (LOL) I ended up doing some small artwork and making some dollfie clothing for Danny during some of my spare time between my illustration work :)

When I am in Japan, I love checking out fabric stores to source for good fabrics and materials to make doll clothing :) Below is a small shop called “Life!” which I went in for the first time with 2 friends :D The shop does not have a website, but my husband found them at the bottom of this link featuring some shops in Nippori. The shop owner kindly allowed us to take photo of the shop interior ^^ She also speaks some english too :D

While going to meet some friends for dinner at Shinjuku, saw this, kawaii and moe? ^^;

We went to the restaurant at 8 floor:

There’s this fruit store selling Durians lol

Fruits are always neatly arranged and people are not allowed to touch them ^^;

I like how they include the little stalk on top of the melons ^o^

Scored some bits and bobs for Mirai at Ikebukuro Volks store ^^; It was a bit difficult to find but has quite a bit of stuff other than dollfies ^^/

We wondered around a bit and bumped into a friendly japanese guy at this place ^o^ we tried to communicate in our limited language lol

We encountered life size Gundam at Odaiba ^o^

So glad that Gundam was put together by the time we went, and VERY thankful for the great weather, despite being sun burnt after we hung around for a bit ^^;

Over the week, at Nakano Broadway, I came across a deal I cannot resist ^^; I think she might had been from a smoking home (due to a faint smell) or maybe was used, as the wire around her neck looks different from what I recall from my other Mamachapps. But Moko tan Get! ^^;;;;; I may have to rehome some dolls tho ^^;/

She met a new friend ^^;/

And ate my dessert :P

After an afternoon of chatting, we nao have Danny demonstrate how to make Dollfie Dream Maki sushi :P *round of applauce*

First, place Dollfie on one end of a soft towel…

Then start rolling carefully…

If towel is big enough you can place 2nd Dollfie Dream and continue rolling…

Ready? Itadakimasu!

Make sure the towels are clean before rolling your Dollfie Dream musumes in them!

Fast forward, we went to this amazing Korean BBQ place owned by friend’s parents ^o^! It will be featured in the Food entry coming next lol!

Hung out a bit on sunday with the bunch of friends, they took us to Yokohama and China town, too bad the weather was poo, rainy ^^; We saw a river FULL OF JELLY FISHES O_O!

It was insane!

In China town, we noticed that the Panda is often associated, and there was many steamed buns stalls/shops around ^o^

Unfortunately on the evening I got back to Canada I fell sick :P I was quite worried in case it was the flu which we don’t want to get lol! I am currently taking medication and feeling slightly better today ^^;/ so more next time! Also gotta catch up with work ^^;;;;

Post birthday documentation ^^

Take note, my birthday has already passed okay :P LOL This is just an entry to document activities and of course FOOD ABUSE lol! We start with this yummy salmon burger (Which I already took a nibble of) which I had at Watermark on Kits Beach photo taken by my husband ^^ I took one before the nibble but I felt that this one taken by my husband looks better ^^/

Husband had Halibat fish and chips, (He thought it was so-so) and we hung out with his siblings and their significant others ^^

Passed by ice cream van, but no more room to fit anything more ^^;

Saw a beautiful Iris in someone’s garden, took a couple shots, this one turned out better ^^/

Next stop, hunting for an item for someone ^o^;

Initially thought it would be easy as pie, since Gastown has many souvenir shops, but ended up going thru a few shops before finding some, for some reason that particular item was really hard to find this summer. When we finally found some, we grabbed all that’s left on the shelf ^^;

Fast forward a bit, we went to Nood afterwards for a bit, got a few small items as they have some stuff on sale or clearance ^o^ I scored a nice little notepad from husband :) Didn’t take pix at Nood tho ^^;

I took Mirai chan out ^o^ Unfortunately I ended up mostly having her in the bag ^^; She’s wearing a test top ^^ The back is not well fitted yet ^^; Gotta fix the pattern :P

Fastforward some more… what? Dinner time already? We went to Manzo Itamae ^^/It was a late dinner actually, around 8.30 pm, but since the days are longer in Summer it is still nice and bright. Before that, husband picked up a surprise cake for me ^o^;; I wasn’t expecting cake as I felt kinda bloated these days ^^; We decided to have the cake later in the evening after some errands ^^

Grabbed Vivi with me, didn’t take too many photos tho as lighting is quite limited ^^;

We ordered a few things to share ^^ Below is very very delicious Gyoza! First time seeing it presented like this, but it was very good ^^ will definitely get again next time we go :P

Below is a type of tempura - chikuwa with cheese inside and deep fried after dipping in a batter I think… ^^; If you bite into it when it’s still hot, the cheese oozes out and you can scald your tongue if you’re not careful ^^;

Mango roll ^O^ Oiishi so!

Duck breast ^^ it came with some dollops of mustard (?) as it was cooked until it was about done so that it is very tender and slightly chewy ^^/ the sauce was a miso reduction ^o^ I liked that it has some veggies on the side. A bit too much meat for me tho ^^;

Ready for cake? ^^; (Had to colour adjust it quite a bit ^^;) sorry if it still looks kinda wonky ^o^;

Huge strawberry ^^; The chocolate mousse cake was quite tasty but there was raspberries in it… like lots ^^;;;; (I don’t like raspberries :P) Also it was very rich ^o^; Husband was saying that when he ordered the cake, they didn’t tell him there’s gonna be raspberries in it ^^;

Invited brother in law and waifu over to cut cake and help us out lol but since the cake is very rich they couldn’t finish ^^;

Non birthday related stuff, I finally completed the non doll related project I was working on ^o^ Basically this top is an attempt to replicate a top which I own and loved but had shranked it a bit by accident in the dryer ;_; Some notes etc on flickr ^^;/

Okay it’s late ^^; I should go to bed, another long day ahead tomorrow! Thanks for the birthday wishes and comments from the last entry! :) I’ll try to make a post about art next time ^^;/

Lumix LX3

Our current 3 year old point and shoot digital camera is not meeting our expectations these days, especially during low light condition. So me and hubsband decided to give LX3 a try — thanks to seeing some recommendations in the comments on dannychoo.com and Danny’s own photos. The nice thing about some (not all) of the stores in Canada is that we at least have a 14 day return policy, so we can actually try the camera for that period of time to see if it’s a keeper :)

After a trip to Ikea… we returned home with a lot of boxes ^^; We were using a different series of Ikea boxes which was not very well designed and were slowly phasing them out ^^; This was the final stage lol

I used up most of the boxes ^^; All these boxes went into our wardrobe ^^; I know, I have a fabric problem :P

This was a picture of my husband’s burger from a BBQ I missed ^^; I needed to get some stuff I had been putting off done =_=; And I had burger the day before already (see above) so :P It was a warm and goregous day, great for BBQ! (click for larger image)

But sometimes this kinda weather = bad case of hayfever ^^;

Our thoughts so far: Due to the wide angle lens some images (especially macros) appear somewhat distorted (barrel distortion), and husband wishes that the JPG compression could be better, as there tend to be some strange artifacts when we look at the photos at 100%. I guess it really depends on if we intend to blow up any photos we take, otherwise if we actually print the photos in regular sizes it should not be too obvious. Still gotta take more pictures to see if it is something we can live with :3

Finally an overdue entry for some sketches ^^; Our cat’s condition is still keeping us on our toes, so I barely have time to think about sketches, but I was at the shop yesterday and there were some slower moments so I sketched on and off. Here are 3 of them ^^/! My eyes (optical pair, just to clarify for those who are from dannychoo :P) had been really tired, and twitchy possibly from not enough rest =_=; Anyhows,

This is a kinda non art related post unless you want to count this postit art my husband drew :P
There’s a sneak peek of something I was working on near end of this entry tho ;D

Our poor senior Meowmeow was sick since monday (started puking around 4 am on monday and puked every other hour o_o), very bad for him, our finances and all of our stress level ^^; Hopefully it’s nothing super major since blood work and xray was non conclusive at the moment.

We have him home now as it is less stressful for him (you should have heard him yeowl and hiss when the vet and assistants were trying to handle him ^^; feel rather bad for them to have to feel Meow’s rage when they’re trying to help ;_;). He had to be put on IV as he was loosing fluids and not eating. I hope we can get him eating/drinking again gradually!

I gotta feed him medicine tomorrow, not really looking forward to it cos he’ll hate me after :P

Uchi is doing well (see below of him having an apple treat from my husband), so is Ebichu — no photo this time as she is harder to photograph as she is a very fast dwarf hamster and I don’t want to use flash on her ^^;

Lastly borrowing the New Year Card (Thanks Gordon!) which arrived today to wish everyone Happy New Year!

Foxy girl Sketch

This is possibly the first doodle/quick sketch of 2009?

Been feeling inspired by my new doll/muse, Mirai Yukino chan!

It’s nice find some time to sew a bit again :) When I was sewing for Mirai, I realised that I really missed it! Last year I had very little to no time to sew ^^;/

Tried to make Danny choo’s Mirai’s school uniform for my own Mirai Dollfie Dream! ^^/ Also tried to make a new test blouse today, just some minor tweaks to go, and gotta figure out a more accurate way to do the sleeves to be closer to the actual school uniform. It’s fun in the challenging sense ^^!

Recently helped Danny with a chibi Mirai RSS gif image, :D Tanoshii kata (It was fun!)! ^O^ I also currently have her on my site ^^/ Kawaii? ^^;/ Big thanks to Mr. Choo for feature and hijack!

Mirai Yukino chan! Happy 2009!

This is a semi test post! Haven’t been able to update my blog for a little bit due to some weird bug ^^;, mucked around a bit and I hope it’s working nao (fingers crossed). Like I mentioned before, I am very pleased to managed to get a special arrival before the new year, her name is Mirai Yukino! ^O^ She is a Dollfie Dream :)

What was I doing on New Year eve? Preparing a feast food! :P I got some help here and there and hubs cleaned up most of it (with some help from me of course), so I really shouldn’t complain, we also have some left over to help us tide over the ridiculous amount of snow we been getting…
(We’re kinda trapped at home again! =_=;)

Party animals! lol Jessie (the Sheltie) belongs to my bro in law ^^ I take Uchi out to meet her sometimes (under supervision of course!)
