Couple sketches and a load of cute ^^;

Did a couple sketches last week, one was a random girl in bikini (drew it before the bad news day).

Last week a friend came over to visit us for a bit (she also needed to drop something off) and we took her to stalk baby bunnies at a local park (selected pix under cut) :D I hope it distracted my husband a little, a tiny little baby bunny ate a carrotstick from his hand and actually touched his finger a bit! (I’m jealous :P) Husband had Meowmeow for longer than I do, while I know I am still upset over Meow’s passing, I know he had a longer and stronger bond with the cat, who of course loves my husband more than me, and may take longer for his sadness to pass…

Kungfu baby bunny Haiiiyak!

The bunnies were likely decendents of people who set their pets free into the park from way back. There’s apparently coyotes sightings in the park once in a while so the bunnies are left there as erm food for them? ^^; Could be hearsay tho…

The little white toe on the left front paw KILLED me ^^; SO CUTE!

There’s actually a few more babies of this size, but they were hiding in bushes and we couldn’t get any nearer. This grey baby bun is very brave :P!

Ducks from the pond near by came and stole some of the carrots which was dropped on the ground! Robbers!

This one will grow up to be a heartbreaker ^^;

Mokona? It has a tiny white spot on it’s nose! :) This one was too far away for us to tempt it with carrot sticks(and we ran out by now :P)

There are larger bunnies around too, and they’re not shy about coming up to you to see if you have food for them ^^; Usually they’ll snatch and run ^^;

2nd sketch was a rough one of Meow, referred from an old photo of him.

Losing a special pet made me realise that we need to spend more time with those which are still around us, hammies included! Hubs is lucky that his siblings had been supportive, we hang out with them after work so we don’t mope too much ^^;

I mean they’re different from a cat of course, but they’re still dear ^^ Ebichu is a lightweight because she loves to run the wheel ^^; (And running in general) She pauses split seconds like this when she hear sounds around her ^^;

Legacy of a cat with many faces

Still trying to come to terms about the loss of our Meowmeow, he left too sudden and too unexpectedly. We gave the go ahead for the vet to do a surgery to remove threads from his bowels, his bloodwork was great, we both thought he would be fine. But he didn’t wake up this morning :( we got a call from the vet around 8am to tell us meow wasn’t responding =_= and was THEN told that the chances for the operation was 50/50.

Both husband and me feel like we betrayed Meowmeow *sigh* but at the same time we also know that what’s done cannot be undone. Meowmeow was a trooper tho, while he was sick he still tries to get into his regular schedule when he has the energy, he would join us when we eat, watch TV and sleep with us during the last 6 weeks he was with us.

I think it somehow makes it harder for us to believe that he’s gone just like that.

I never owned a cat before, as my parents do not allow pets in our little HDB flat back in Singapore, when I first met Meowmeow he was not a very friendly cat to me. I was attacked twice by the whole 15-18 pounds — drawing blood, but after that he seems to think I am not a threat to his place in the household. I was terrified of that cat initially tho, but who can resist those big anime-like green eyes?

Over time he started to be nicer/less hostile to me, even tho his favourite guy is still my husband. We often joked that Meowmeow is gay (he’s a boy by the way, nuetered :P)

I heard from my husband, (Me and hubs haven’t known each other then) Meowmeow was rescued from a dumpster when he was barely the size of a rat in 1996 — his eyes even wasn’t opened then. Meowmeow and another kitten was meowing loudly in the dumpster, abandoned perhaps by someone. The family had to feed him with kitten formula until he got bigger. Meowmeow started attacking visitors as he got bigger unfortunately and became my husband and his parent’s responsibility later on when his brother moved out.

I was told that he climbed in under the blanket by himself and peeked out like this :) So darn cute! (the couple in the pictures are my brother in law and his wife — before I knew them)

While I wished I knew Meow when he was a bean, I heard that he tend to try to attack people’s feets even when he was a bean cat.

Meowmeow apparently had always been a slient cat since young. I noticed that he seemed to became more vocal as I moved in and lived with the family, and I was extremely amused. Since he didn’t meow a lot, his meowing always sounds very girly and kitten like. And yes it’s ironic that his name is Meowmeow, since he’s a boy and doesn’t meow much then :P

Meowmeow was a handsome and adorable cat (after he initialized you by attacking U visiciously once or twice :P), I often enjoy making him the subject of my digital photography, I have tons and tons of pictures of Meowmeow over the 4-5 years I lived with him.

King of the house

Meowmeow loved boxes, he always tried to see if he could fit into the opened boxes when we get something in the mail, he was strong enough to open doors to our cabinet/wardrobe and would go inside to check things out when he get them opened.

Size does not matter, really!

He likes to play with say, a ping pong ball, and we used to find him playing “soccer” by himself once in a while, almost like he was entertaining himself. Sometimes we join in, rolling the ball at him or kicking the ball back so he can catch it. Meowmeow loved food too, he would go eat by himself when he feels hungry, and always demands for his treats at about the same time every night. We often used to say when we eats, he eats, when we don’t eat, he eats too ^^;

He wanted us to accompany him when he was eating after we moved to our current place to the point he would badgered us so we go watch him “perform” eating.

Even up to his last days with us he would go to his food dish by habit, but unfortunately by then eating was not enjoyable anymore :/ He even rejected bread, when he used to steal it from our counter tops and get into big trouble for it. I wish the outcome for all of this is different rather than at the cost of this naughty boy’s life. He had brought much joy and laughter other than the occassional mean bite and random attacks.

Freaked out by the vacuum cleaner

Meow has a buncha fans who loved and adored his photos, and a couple of them were brave enough to meet him in person ^^; He is also spoiled with treats and cards over the years (thank you ladies, you know who you are!)

I normally do not allow him to be on my desk, I would put a lot of stuff on my desk so he won’t be able to lay on it, so he goes over and takes over my husband’s clean desk ^^;

Taken on the last evening before the surgery :/ We were so amused that he watched a bit of the anime my husband was watching in bed… *sigh* Little did we know…

Thanks for looking and everyone who sent their condolences… Pets are family too which is probably why it hurts a lot I guess…

A day in – an injured finger

Picture below of army of chocolate bunnies taken while going to get medication (for the husband’s injured finger) at pharmacy in a Supermarket. Not as impressive as my friend’s photo tho!

Easter seems to be a bigger thing in Canada than in Singapore (not sure for the latter for now tho).

Monday was not a very good day, husband’s finger was getting more painful and swollen from getting bitten by our cat on Sunday. We had to go find a walk in clinic in our area after working all day and him bearing with the pain — it has to be very painful as normally he wouldn’t complain about pain for injuries ^^; The weird thing is it’s impossible to find any information online for any walk in clinic in our neighbourhood; we actually had to go to a clinic, find out that it’s full and get information from the receptionist of other clinics around. After seeing the doctor, we have to go to a pharmacy to collect the medication ^^; So it was a lot of waiting before the problem was taken care of.

Hubs spotted a funny image framed up while we waited for the doctor lol! What do you think the boy is doing? ^^;

Going to see a doctor is rather different from what it’s like in Singapore where usually there’s a walk in clinic in the neighbourhood, and it is usually accessible by walking or public transport. Medication is usually dispensed from the clinic itself too, which is more convenient. How is it where you live?

We went to “Save on foods” to get medication and have to wait about 15 minutes, so we walked around, get some groceries before collecting husband’s medication. I had to take a chance to take some sneaky pictures cos Easter is coming there’s some goods which only appears once a year showing up ^^ The balloons and chocolate bunnies are so cute ^o^!

I want to try the custard one sometime in future :P We had too much junk food at home so I don’t wanna get more ^^;;

Hubs was very amused by these biscuits :P I think they’re called Lady Finger too? And oh, it’s the index finger which was bitten :P

Meow’s been dropped off at the Vet’s for a blood test ^^; New friend of Meowmeow (and the dollies) arrived in the afternoon tho more pictures some other time — gotta catch up with some work ^^;; Bunny boy stayed there for about half a minute :P

Art and Snow Nyoron~

Sorry for lack of art updates, nyoron~ ^^; Hopefully this entry might make up for it somehow? ^^;
One more artwork and some photos ^^/
It was shoppu day ^^/ Did couple doodles during slower hours, kinda liked how this one is turning out ^o^

On Wednesday evening it snowed a little, hubs told me the winds were rather strong ^^; The snow stuck just a little, like dusting of icing on a cake ^o^

The way it accumulated on the leaves is very interesting neh?

It accumulated a little on the bench by the bus stop… I wished I brought a doll with me ^^; (Nyoron~ =_=)

And kinda accumulated a little on some of the signboards around ^^;

Another post about random

This week managed to finish a record speed little commission for Otaku Dan! :D Very happy to be chosen to refresh the mascot/logo, the mascot is so cute, like a mochi with ears, tail and glasses ^O^ ^^; want to eat it lol!

I draw full time for cartoondollemporium.com but occassionally I do take a freelance commission or 2, have to squeeze it into free time sometimes if the commission has more details ^^; Each commission work is different, so charge and time to complete differ per client ^^; Example if the mascot is a full size girl with detailed clothing etc, it’ll cost more than drawing a mochi mascot with a face and accessory :) Currently I have a couple things in queue ^^; (Sorry for the wait!)

I drew some sketches at the shop today but I’m not 100% happy with them so I’ll do a photo dump instead ^^;

Today after I got home, I wanted to find something in a particular box which was packed away since we moved to our current place, so I finally opened that box and with the item I found (I’ll blog about that item another time :P) I found a buncha hidden treasures XD!

Extremely delighted to find these set of clips in shape of birds and wiener dogs I bought when I was in Japan couple years ago? ^^;

I believe I got them from either “Loft” or “Tokyu Hands” both places sells Zakka which can range from stuff like stationery to kitchenware, very nice place to hunt for cute souveniers.

The strange looking grey colour animal(which I have no idea based off what animal) was a gift from a friend in San Jose lol I recall wanting to buy it and said friend forcefully bought it for me LOL (don’t think he even remember he did that now :P) I was extremely amused that it make s alot of funny noises ranging from “Muuuuak heehee” to “gigglygooglybubugigugigu (something along that line)” ^o^
Catbus plushy which I couldn’t resist anymore at the time ^^;

This Lion was a present from the husband :P his mane reminds me of my hubs’ hair lol And hubs is a Leo ^^ (He shares same birthday as Singapore! XD)

As for Meow status, me + hubs decided to be crazy and bring him with us without a carrier (yup you read that right) to the animal hospital as we were going there to buy some more wet food for him. Why we did that was still unknown, I am guessing it was kinda because our cat started to behave a bit more like his nosy old self (which is somewhat a relief), and I just picked him up and held him like a big baby in the car, all the way to the hospital and back home.

Meow did hiss and fussed when we went into a room with an assistant to weigh him – he weighed 12 pounds 10 ounces ^^; The first time he went to the hospital he weighed 14 pounds (he was probably a bit more before he got sick)

I’ll end this photo dump with food post :P I had left over home made okonomiyaki for lunch on Wednesday, took a couple pix ^0^! I thank my friend Yuki san for teaching me how to make it everytime we nom it, as it is so easy to make and sooooo satisfying ^^;/

I was trying to draw something more sexy or moe, but my left eye had been bugging me on and off making it hard to work long hours on computer so, hope U peeps don’t mind the quick art below ^^;

Couple of pix of old scruffy meow ^^; he made me and hubs laugh when he climbed into the bottom shelf on his own :) Reminds us of how he is when he was not sick ^^;

Poor meow definitely lost quite a bit of weight ^^;

Thursday sketches

Finally an overdue entry for some sketches ^^; Our cat’s condition is still keeping us on our toes, so I barely have time to think about sketches, but I was at the shop yesterday and there were some slower moments so I sketched on and off. Here are 3 of them ^^/! My eyes (optical pair, just to clarify for those who are from dannychoo :P) had been really tired, and twitchy possibly from not enough rest =_=; Anyhows,

This is a kinda non art related post unless you want to count this postit art my husband drew :P
There’s a sneak peek of something I was working on near end of this entry tho ;D

Our poor senior Meowmeow was sick since monday (started puking around 4 am on monday and puked every other hour o_o), very bad for him, our finances and all of our stress level ^^; Hopefully it’s nothing super major since blood work and xray was non conclusive at the moment.

We have him home now as it is less stressful for him (you should have heard him yeowl and hiss when the vet and assistants were trying to handle him ^^; feel rather bad for them to have to feel Meow’s rage when they’re trying to help ;_;). He had to be put on IV as he was loosing fluids and not eating. I hope we can get him eating/drinking again gradually!

I gotta feed him medicine tomorrow, not really looking forward to it cos he’ll hate me after :P

Uchi is doing well (see below of him having an apple treat from my husband), so is Ebichu — no photo this time as she is harder to photograph as she is a very fast dwarf hamster and I don’t want to use flash on her ^^;

Lastly borrowing the New Year Card (Thanks Gordon!) which arrived today to wish everyone Happy New Year!

Ranka quick sketch

Watched Macross Frontier with hubs and decided okay gonna sketch Ranka Lee, I don’t super like her but I thought her hair style is kinda unique in a funny way… anyone think they look like floppy ears?

Anyhows here is the super (duper) quick sketch, done in 10-15 minutes ^^;
Not sure if I am gonna colour her tho, but if I am to do that, definitely not this week, too busy :P

On a totally random note, Meowmeow got the corporate cuddling punishment for being naughty :P (tumblred)
