Japan 2011 – Nakano

Went around looking for a replacement point and shoot camera, and decided that’s not the way to blow my money ^^;

A couple cameras we were eyeing, cost almost half as much more to buy it in Japan than Canada with the strong yen against Canadian… =_=;;;

In the end, I decided to get an older kit lens which is discontinued at a much more reasonable price, at a camera shop which sold new and old camera/equipment. Finally got to take more photos tonight ^^;

Before getting the camera, we walked around in Nakano Broadway to check out some of the shops :3 had a nice time ogling at the Dollfie dreams ^^; So expensive haha ^^;;;

Faint… at the price tag…. (puppies covering Sasara’s puppies — they were very erm perky ^^;)

Parabox shop looked a bit different from what I remember… Either they moved or they renovated XD tempted to buy a lot more stuff than I should ^^;

Time for dinner, we decided to try out a teppanyaki place which was quite hidden, had to go to 2nd floor to get to it :D the young waitress who tended to us spoke some English and helped us out a lot — I was stammering in my limited broken Japanese HAHA how embarrassing ^^;;;

Mos burger!!!

Husband saw this adorable stray cat hiding in a corner XD took a few shots, glad one turned out fine :)

Missing Ginko and Yoshi… luckily our house/cat sitters took some pictures for us :3

Omake: Saw and bought a Pon de Lion toy figure 2nd hand at a pretty decent price at one of the shops XD so happy! I wanted one for a long time :P

I dug out the clover seeds given to me years back (the seeds supposedly expired but they still work ^^; ) I have a black thumb… so I hope these guys make it :P

The next 4 photos of the clover seedlings are taken using the LX3, in P mode, with manual focus setting! It was quite awesome :P

I wasn’t intending to have another crepe but the night before I saw some very evil and tempting dessert photos from my husband who was in HK at the time… and got my excuse to eat one :P

Had company one evening and they took me to eat Vera’s burger :3

The decor is a bit different from what I remember :P It has a more “fast food” chain feel now?

I tried the turkey burger, lots of flavor — well marinated patty ^^ Fresh fries are fresh XP I shouldn’t have had the whole burger tho ^^; was so full that evening, I couldn’t sleep XP

Husband back nao! :P We went to Torarenbo (last minute decision :P) for sushi after going to pick something up.

Beautiful day out today, really sunny some point in time, but rather cold due to the breeze — when I went out for a moment I felt like I was being blown away :P

A bit hard to focus where I wanted to when the branches were moving about ^^;

Weeds tend to florish as well in nice weather ^^;

Breakfast :P rice balls made from rice from the day before, Aoi nori dusting, inside is canned salmon flakes with mayo :3 yum!

Lunch -cream of mushroom soup and a couple pan fried frozen prata (french onion flavor :3)

Richmond No Kill Shelter

Remember the Secret Cat Haven? (Thank you for everyone who wanted to donate and show their support!) Their affiliated shelter RAPS (Richmond Animal Protection Society or RAPS) is having an open house from 12-3pm on 31 Dec 2010 to bring awareness and gather support. Location and contact information can be found here.

Ginko and Yoshi are adopted from RAPS, and we visit the shelter time to time to update them and also check out their cats :) Posted an entry at ginkoyoshi.com if you’re interested in more photos and a video of kittens at play~!

We’re extremely tempted to take this adorable tabby kitten home :P

I noticed that there are bunnies out and about these days, the weather and temperature seems to be suitable for them I guess :) And guess what I think we might have come across the bunny which induced a lot of “AWWWWWWW” when it was a bebe!!!! Really hope it’s the same bunny! :)

The bunny below is really tame o_o It thought I had food (Unfortunately I don’t :P) and I touched the tip of it’s ear for a moment ^^;

Photos taken at Granville Island when we went to collect a broom for Mokotan and run some errands ^^;

When I pull out my camera to take a photo of these neat looking chocolate, a passing old guy said loudly “HANDS OFF THOSE CHOCOLATES!” I loled :P

Otacute Character Contest

Woot my otacute submission is up! :D This month feels like a month of submissions, there was also the pixiv.net x otacool 4 and another one I submitted for something else (hopefully it went thru okay)

I was trying to come up with something but ended up using one of the first sketches’ idea ^^;

Meet Lala, my submission :D

People have different perception with cute, so I decided to go with my own, despite the temptation to draw a sexy cute babe, I ended up going with a cute loli/SD character ^^;

Green is the main site’s colour, I use other colours like pink, blues and browns to make the character stand out :)

Food and random stuff

Looks like we found a new favorite restaurant ^^;

Thought I should document about it despite some seem repetitive — example going to same place for dindin ^^;

Couldn’t remember why but we went there to dinner again (maybe because we ran out of grocery at home, bought grocery after dinner before heading home ^^;)

There was a dog show last weekend at a local mall

Parking was nuts due to the large crowds

I went there to crash an artist meet actually ^^; the funny thing is I felt a bit shy :P But managed to draw a bit and talk to some people I met before at a wedding dinner :) It was good to meet my friend again too (whom I found out about the meet from) ^^.

I feel a bit sorry for the doggies, I think some of them were quite stressed out even tho they were generally quite well behaved.

Fast forward again… Guess what’s for dinner? ^^; LOL okay we have an out of town visitor, so we went (again) :P

Dragon roll

This time we tried their Tiger eyes roll XD, it was a bit spicy for my liking but it was quite delicious really ^o^

Husband ordered inari sushi XD

BBQed salmon belly was ordered — not my usual type of thing but it was pretty good (not fishy!)

My copy of Otacool3 arrived yesterday! :D Ordered it before finding out that I won a copy lol

Posted a bit more at figure.fm ^^ along with my dollfie dream girls :)

Made myself an ita SD card to tell it apart from husband’s :P hopefully it’s not gonna come off over time ^o^;

So I had some food photos which I almost forgotten about ^^;

Our host of the food post is Churuya san lol

Had brunch with a couple doll friends at Glowbal Grill, so YUM ^O^ There was complimentary mini donuts and sample of the feature smoothie!

Churuya san had the last mini donut ;D

For some reason I picked something not too exciting or different lol, it was very good tho! ^o^ Really liked the potatos :P

Dessert and tea after at Ganache, a cute little cake place with exquisite looking cakes <3 It was my first time there and I would have had a hard time trying to decide which to get, but thankfully my friend’s recommendation helped! XD

Dinner at Correlis, unfortunately it appears that the restaurant’s recent reviews are not fantastic. Initially we were a bit surprised that we were almost the only bunch of people there having dinner when it’s a Sunday evening ^^; Me and husband enjoyed our order tho! :)

Below is husband’s chicken with some type of a mushroom sauce on linguine (I forgot the name of the dish ^^;)

next is my chicken and sausage penne with a slightly spicy sauce, I couldn’t finish it and took the rest home ^^;
