Busy busy!

Had been rather busy the last few weeks mostly had to stay indoors despite the beautiful weather – I hope next week’s forecast of rain is not true (wahhh!)

One sunny day of last week, I managed to bike out and had a gelato at Timmy’s Frozen Yougurt in Steveston tho!

Too bad the guy who served me that time didn’t make a fresh waffle cone for me haha! It still taste good tho, like regular crispy waffle cones ^^ I was thinking about the gelato for a long time and biking out for it was satisfying :)

Too bad after having a waffle gelato, I have no room for Pajo’s fish and chips :P Haven’t had that in a long time!

Got cloudy at some point in time ^^;

I may have missed the ducklings season too, people have been cutting the grass short which makes it not suitable for the ducks to hide ^^; Last year around this time I had a friend visiting and we went out to Steveston Village too ^^/

On a different day, had shanghainese food at Shanghai House with husband and parents in law ^^

The food is generally quite tasty but we found that recent months their broth had gotten really salty :P It’s a real pity as we initially go there a lot as we felt that they don’t taste as salty as other restaurants we have been to…

Potstickers/guotie/chinese gyoza(?) the skin is kinda thick but it’s chewy with a slightly crispy bottom. ^^ be careful when it is just served, it’s hot and the hot “juice” from the meat filling can burn your tongue or squirt out lol

Yet another day, we went to a friend’s baby’s first birthday :D Went to pick up some Outpost Mini Donuts :9 They have a Mother’s day theme out on their display :)

Really cool cake made by baby’s Mommy :3 we get to draw/sign it ^o^

And the surprise came when the cake was cut open! Rainbow coloured lemon cake! Made with love until 3 am the night before ^^;

Okay I should get back to doing some work stuff, thanks for looking! ^^/

Strida Mini grocery run

I needed to buy some small bits and bobs and yesterday it wasn’t rainy, so I made a grocery run on Strida Mini into Steveston Village :)

I could have picked a nicer photo for the top feature but I felt that this photo is quite interesting, I feel that it makes Strida Mini look smaller than it is!

I took a different route since it didn’t appear like it was going to rain despite the feeling of general mugginess, too bad there isn’t a pretty blue sky to take photos with.

But I guess the blue of the Forget Me Nots made up for it ;)

As I leisurely biked along, I spotted some bluebells among some bushes behind a fence, had to stop to take some photos with Strida Mini!

I was born and lived in Singapore until I got married and moved to Canada, and I had a vivid childhood memory of seeing a field of bluebells in a picture book. It became one of my favorite flowers :)

As I get closer to my destination, I was distracted by this boy with two adult guardians close by, he had two lop-ear bunnies close to him, had to stop and try to take some photos :P

This cutie below was curious and quite friendly — I managed to stroke her head a few times (she has a dewlap– female bunnies have those?) She was a little wet from the drool of a doggy who keep wanting to go near her ^^;

I just waited until she hopped away, haha! So cute <3

Reached my destination, got my stuffs, was about to leave and decided to take a quick snapshot of this cafe(?) near Super Grocer, the food smell from here kills me everytime :P One other time I went, they had freshly baked muffins… Oh boy… I had to peel myself away otherwise I would have gone in and buy a bunch to stuff my face! Maybe one day I should go try their food for real!

One of the spoils from the grocery shopping, gonna use some to make some soup I think, they’re great just cut up, with salt and pepper and a little olive oil :3

I haven’t blogged in a bit I know, so I will add some past photos to document, evil food pix included lol

Cooked porkchop last week, using “chicken french” style — inspired by this Food Wishes you tube channel :3

The Yae Sakura still look okay last week, but this week most of it is washed out and droopy ^^; See you next year!

Most of last week was cloudy… and rainy ^^;

And I had a great meet with some blythe doll friends over the Sunday, I want to document some of the food/drink photos here as well :) One of the lovely ladies made Sangria :9 SO YUMMY!

This went into the Sangria XD

Our host has a green thumb :3

Strida Mini

One of my favorite season in Vancouver has to be spring!

What can be better than spring blossoms on a beautiful gorgeous day?! ^o^

When the trees are in full bloom, usually it doesn’t last very long, about a week or so they’ll start to shed, if the weather is rainy or windy, maybe even sooner ^^; So when I saw the sky being so blue, I had to get my butt out and try to take photos asap!

Sometimes we had to briefly invade someone’s yard to take photos of the blooms :P

Thanks to Strida Mini I was able to get further to check the status of some of the trees further from our home :P

Some of the trees were already past the prime of the blossoms tho unfortunately ^^;

I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful dense “sea” of wild daisies in the parkade of Garry Point Park!

At the time the trees at Garry Point Park were almost.. almost there! I suspect they were probably fully blooming over the past weekend?

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter :D Hehe We had some white eggs so I managed to save a couple egg shells when I was cooking, used the better one to make this art below XD

Also sketched a bunny girl art which I quickly coloured in Sai :3 I went out with husband and took some photos of spring blossoms, have to edit that first before updating, meanwhile husband already uploaded some of the photos he took :3

Strida Mini tire puncture fixed!

The weather forecast decided to play an April fool’s prank on us by telling us it’s going to rain today and giving us a beautiful sunny afternoon instead! Awesome! ;)

This is the first time I ever have to fix a bicycle tire puncture and I am happy to say that I was able to do it! :)

I couldn’t find any tutorial on specifically how to install the Strida Mini tires, but luckily I managed to figure it out with some advice from my husband ^^;

I’m glad that locating the puncture was quite straight forward as well.

I had to deflate the tire, remove the tire and tube with a kit we bought along with Strida mini last year, and immerse just the tube slightly pumped up into a basin of water to find the leak.

Luckily there was only one tiny puncture, not more than that – which I needed to fix. It was just not visible to the naked eye. ^^;

I hope whatever which caused the puncture is not still hiding in the tire — husband did not find anything while feeling around the tire ^^; Apparently a dangerous thing to do with bare hands since the culprit could poke at and injure the fingers. ^^;

After fixing the puncture in the inner tube of the tire, installing the tire back on the bike and then pumping the tire back up, I had to make a short ride around my complex to test it out, it feels great riding a bike with the tires with the correct PSI XD

Looking forward to ride out to take some photos if the weather the coming week cooperates ^^;

This little episode made me realise I really missed my little Strida Mini!

I slowly figure out how to ride it a little better over time, and like how it can get me further and faster than just walking ^^;

I must remember to check it every week to make sure the pressure on the tire is correct :P And also many thanks to my friend Ruthie who advised me that usually after winter storage, the tire may have leaked air XD

Strida Mini spring debut

I got a flat back tire on my way back ^^; Poor Strida Mini is overdue for a service :P

I left my home at about 2.18pm, reached Steveston Village around 2.36 pm.

We had sun, and rather thick clouds, the sky is THIS blue during some point in time of my journey :) I didn’t do any editing on this picture! :D

The clouds were super thick and grey up north in downtown Vancouver ^^;

There’s constructions of a dense amount of town homes near to the water >_<; Making the area very dusty, and there are cracks on the walk way :( I hope they will fix it >_<;

All these amazing photos are taken on the phone! I think the phone does well in daylight ^^ for darker/night photos it’s way too grainy XD

The traffic light in Steveston village is nicely done up, not everyone follow the rules tho >_<;

When I was on my way home, someone remarked I had a flat, I got off and the tire bounced back so I’m hoping it’s just that there’s not enough air in it rather than a hole ^^;

I felt resistance on my bike but didn’t think it was my tire being flat ^^; I hope it’s not a hole, it still bounces back when I got off the bike and when I got home I pumped some air in it, will have to check to see if it leaks out the next few days :P

Really pleased that our daffodils come back every year, with a few more flowers each time XD

It was a good work out :P I look forward to cycling more often when the weather is less cold!

Strida Mini

Urban Tea Merchant

Attended a doll meet at Urban Tea Merchant in downtown, organised to meet with the lovely Archangeli who’s in town for work :D

It was my first time there and I was rather excited! XD Evil food pix ahead! You have been warned!

Some of my friends had already been there and I recalled the photos of the food and tea looked pretty ^^

I was recommended a milder version of the english breakfast by our server (if I didn’t remember wrongly what I ordered lol) and it was very good, very fragrant and mild :) I forgot the name of the tea unfortunately ^^;>

My friend on my left ordered a green matcha ^o^

I ordered their brunch and it came on a long glass platter, with a beautiful arrangement of sliced fruits, I had to take a few photos of it as it was like a work of art! Unfortunately the fruits were a bit tart ^^;

bluestarbaby who was sitting across from me ordered the petite signature tea service and it was adorable!

The strawberry was a little old looking ^^; The chocolate detail looked cute tho!

Interestingly enough, the food was a modest amount but I lasted all afternoon LOL I went to dressew with a couple friends to pick up some stuff, holding my bag of dolls and camera and miscellanous items… I was dead tired by the time I got home tho XD! It was a good work out! :P

Thanks Itsid8 for organising and Archangeli it was nice to meet you and your lovely dolls :) I was really amused a lot more guys showed up at this meet LOL, glad bluestarbaby was able to come and transit with me :P I did a sketch which I happened to like a lot to include with Patty’s purchase from my shop X3

Oops, have been neglecting my blogs ^^; had been busy, and the weather wasn’t very fantastic for photos… so haven’t taken much ^^; Some random bits and bobs accumulated and I will post them here :)

Lovely teeshirts get from Yu chann, Moe and her papa Alvin I heard that some of these Tee shirts were snatched up at the cosfest in Singapore :) I was commissioned to draw Yu chann and Moe over the past months :3

Last week we received a couple beautiful art pieces from my uncle in USA :)

My uncle is one of the people I look up to since I was a kid! ^o^ I think it is super awesome that he decided to pursue art after retirement and I think he’s doing a great job so far :3

Really like the colours he put into his work :D

The vinyl doll in the picture is from a korean maker, her face is hand painted, resulting in a vintage feeling ^^/ She is a nice size to have with the painting as a background :)

Spring colours :)

Last Monday me and my doll hung out with out friends ^o^ I took some photos of some plants :)

The Prickly Pear Garden Center has some flowering plants, despite the cold and not all the shelves are filled, unlike in the summer. The colours of the flowers still stood out and makes a nice background~!

Seeing all these plants, flowers and colours make me happy! Spring is here :)
